THE PROCESS

My pieces begin with a blank panel or canvas depending on if I am working on an encaustic piece or an oil painting. Usually, birch wood that I prime with an encaustic gesso or clear beeswax.

With either canvas or wood panels, each layer is carefully added and fused to the only below. It is like life in that we are bound to our past but have the ability to change the future.

The past will never be erased. It may be hidden but is essential to building a complex and interesting piece.

Just as age adds wisdom and interest to us as humans so does each brushstroke and material added to my pieces.
